Edward Eugene i'ernando Montagu (Lorl Edward Montagu), aged 29, independent, of Grosvenor Street, W., appeared on remand at West London Police Court oil August 20, and was again remanded, his sister, Lady Louise Montagu, on this occasion being surety, Mrs. van der List's sister having withdrawn her bail. The charges against Lord Edward were: Stealing a banker's cheque for £17 0/7, the property of Mrs. Violet van der Elst, of Addison Road, W.; forging an endorsement on a banker's cheque payable to Mrs. van der Elst by David Cope, Ltd., with intent to defraud; uttering, knowing it to be forged, a banker's cheque payable to Mrs. van der Elst by David Cope, Ltd., with intent to defraud; and with intent to defraud, receiving £13, by virtue of a certain forged cheque payable to Mrs. van der Elst by David Cope, Ltd., knowing it to be forged.
