TAKAPUNA CITIZENS' BAND.

FAHCY DRESS DANCE. There was an excellent attendance of dancers at the Band Dance Hall, Taharoto Road, Takapuna, on Wednesday evening last, when the social committee of the Takapuna Citizens' Band successfully organised a poster and fancy dress dance. Excellent dance music was rendered by the band orchestra, comprising Mrs. W. Lawrence (piano), Messrs. S. McNair (violin), P. Swanbeck (drums), L. Scorrar (banjo). The judges, Mr. C. Weaver and Mrs. E. E. McLean, awarded the prizes as follow:— Best lady and gentleman's poster costumes: Mr. and Mrs. W. Conning. Best lady's fancy costume: Mrs. H. Evans. Best gentleman's fancy costume: Mr. S. Taylor. Most original lady's costume: Miss Peagram. Most original gentleman's costume: Mr. O. H. Shilton. Special prizes: Mrs. B. J. Findlay and Miss Chandler. The duties of masters of ceremonies were ably carried out by Mr. C. Weaver and Mr. L. J. Henderson (band secretary). The hall was tastefully decorated with greenery, bunting, balloons and streamers. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. A. Brown and Mrs. Shaw. The spot waltz was won by Miss K. Williams and Mr. ■ Langwell. Mrs. E. McLean, of Auckland, presented the prizes to the winners. Mrs. E. E. McLean was the recipient of a beautiful bouquet of flowers, presented by Miss Perry on behalf of the band social committee. A dainty supper was dispensed by members of the ladies' social committee, comprising Mesdames A. R. Perry, W. Perry, T. Hunt, R. Redshaw and R. Wotherspoon.
