FANCY DRESS DANCE.

A children's fancy dress ball was held I in the Henderson Town Hall on Wednesday night last under the auspices of the Henderson school committee. There was an excellent attendance of parents and friends, over 200 children parading in fancy dress. Colourful folk dances in costume by the children received very warm applause. Tlfe judges, Mrs. Delaney and Mr. and Mrs. Bell, of Auckland, awarded the following prizes:—

Best fancy dress: Yvonne Cossey and Colin Lowe. Humorous dress: L. Thorn (old lady) and D. Chappie (gollywog). Most original dress: G. Garrett (benzine) and N. Chappie (clock).

The chairman of the sbliool committee, Mr. W. Hay thorn thwaite, presented the prizes and also swimming certificates won at the swimming championships early in the year to Misses P. Waldron, J. Wright and N"., Lamont. In the course of his speech the chairman remarked on the splendid achievement of the school in winning the aggregate points championship. This certificate was accepted by Miss M. Banks on behalf of the school.

Supper was provided by thp committce for the children.
