COMMUNITY SERVICE.
ORDER OF GOOD SHEPHERD.
TRIBUTE BY ARCHBISHOP.
A tribute to the work of tlie Order of the Good Shepherd was paid at the annual meeting by Archbishop Averill. He said the order had shown the community the value of a balanced life, which, in a period when things were so unbalanced, wr.e a object lesson. The order's type of service was the best, for it was based upon devotion. Referring to tlio recent discussion regarding doctors' fees, Mother Hannah said they were very grateful for the kindness of Auckland doctors. There were some to whom the order could send poor people, knowing that they would receive just the same treatment as other patients. The chaplain, the Rev. W. E. Lush, said there was plenty of scope in the order for mora sisters. One helper, with the assistance of others in the same house, he said, had made 1164 garments for the poor in the past two years. The annual report, presented by the chaplain, the Rev. W. E. Lush, was adopted, and an address on the work of the Church Army was delivered by Mr. F. C. Pearce, a captain in the army. The following officers were elected: Warden, Archbishop Averill; chaplain, the Rev. Lush; superior, Mother Hannah; committee, Archdeacon W. J. Simkin, Canon F. W. Young, Canon C. A. B.
