ANTIQUES EXHIBITION.

SUCCESSFUL OPENING HELD,

For some time past great interest has been centred in the exhibition of antiques to take place in aid of Plunket and girl guide funds, and yesterday when the opening was effected in a warehouse in High Street there was a large attendance of people interested in lovely and rare tilings.

Lady Galway, who came from Wellington specially for the purpose, opened the exhibition. Her Excellency was received on arrival by Sir Alexander Herdman (president), Air. A. H. Champion (chairman of the executive committee), Sir George Wilson, Air. David Nathan, Airs. R.' J. Coates, representing the Girl Guides' Association, and Airs. J. C. Allan, representing the Plunket Society. The Mayoress, Airs. Ernest Davis, was received by Air. A. H. Champion, Airs. J. C. Allan and Airs. Bruce Alackenzie.

Lady Galway was wearing a woollen belted suit in nattier blue, a blue felt hat to match and cream fox fur. Mrs. Ernest Davis was in a black tailored suit with black stitched taffeta hat and silver fox fur; Mrs. J. C. Allan, black tailored suit and black velvet beret; Airs, Bruce Mackenzie, Naples blue ensemble with white collar and cuffs and blue hilt. Mrs. A. F. Purvis, who accompanied her Excellency, was in a navy blue suit and small navy hat. A programme, bound in suede, was presented to her Excellency by the little daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Sehvyn Kenrick, who wore a beautiful little period frock. The exhibits lent by the GovernorGeneral, Lord Galway, and by Lady Galway attracted a great deal of interest. Her Excellency had sent for exhibition a number of charming miniatures, which included miniatures of several Royalties and famous personages. Also of interest to feminine visitors were the 'lovely shawls, needlework pictures, rugs and carpets. Captain Humplirey-Davics' display of ceramics and porcelains was another source of interest. Before the official opening, which took place at half past four, tea was served, the tables being beautifully decorated with spring flowers. The conveners were Mrs. Hugh Kirker and Miss Ruth Roberton, and assisting them were: Mrs. Claude Heather, Mrs. K. Myers, Mrs. J. Russell, Mrs. L. J. Shrubsall, Mrs. Clifton Webb, Mrs. S.
