A House weary of tho Financial Debate with its dreary reiterations of graduated prices, banking and currency talk, was galvanised into life and laughter this afternoon, when Mr. J. A. Leo (Labour, Grey Lynn) produced two newspaper billboard placards heralding the advent of the Coalition Government and the Formation of the National party. The first poster announced: "Coalition Government —Reform and United— Avondalo acceptances." When the merriment had subsided Mr. Leo said that the last announcement on the board had nothing to do witjli the racecourse. . (Laughtor.) The second board read: "Political Federation — Week-end Accidents." • (Renewed laughter.) . The member for Grey Lynn also displayed a photograph of the Prime Minister attending a mannequin parade during,his visit to London. "Happy days are here," ho said, "and that picture makes mo green with envy." Referring to the speech made by Mr. Downio Stewart in Dunedin last Monday, Mr. Leo said that when the ex> Minister produced his prosperity Budget sources or revenue were shown to bo in the bud, tut. ttjey had never come to full flower. His policy had scuttled the ship and 11 r. Stewart took to the dinghy, from which he howled maledictions at the twin skippeCs. The exMinister was now asking the Nationals to kill <]?(• fatted ca'f; he was reaching for the National ttraw; but both sides of the combination were going down. Later Mr. Leo criticised the member for Rotorua (Mr. Clinkard) and said he had produced a political pudding but had not given Cfctails. Mr. Olinkard: 1 absolutely deny that.
