THE RIGHT THING.
INTOXICATED DRIVER. STOPPED HIS MOTOR TRUCK. "I think you did the right thing in pulling up on your correct side of the road when you found yourself like that," said Mr. P. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, to James Lawrence Wilson (38), a carrier, whom he fined £1 and costs for being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor truck in Great North Koad at 1 o'clock this morning. Sub-Inspcctor Fox said Wilson's van was stationary on its right side with all lights burning. Wilson was in an advanced state of intoxication. The arresting constable had known Wilson for seven years as a decent, sober man. Mr. Dickson said Wilson yesterday met some members of the surf club of which he was the captain and had some drinks. The offence was not a serious one and he was not driving his vehicle. When he felt drowsy Wilson did the wise thing by stopping. With this the magistrate agreed.
