VICAR OF FULHAM.
REV. R. H. HOBDAY INDUCTED The Bev. B. IT. Hobday, who was vicar of St. C'olumba Church, Grey Lynn, for some years and who returned to England in April last, was instituted and inducted as vicar of St. James', Moorcpark Boad, Fulliani, early in August. The Bishop of London, Dr. Wilmington Ingram, who officiated, said that no 0110 could accuse Fulham of being parochial. One of the clergy had spent 20 years in Australia, the vicar of a neighbouring church was for 25 years in Australia, another neighbouring vicar was in Africa for 16 years, and Mr. Hobday came to them with a wonderful reputation after 20 years in New Zealand.
In 1008 Mr. Hobday came to New Zealand from England, where he had held country curacies. He was successively vicar of Brooklyn (Wellington) and Eltham, and was the first headmaster of the Diocesan Boys' High School, Wellington. While vicar of Grey Lynn he was examining chaplain to the Archbishop of New Zealand. He married Miss La Trobe. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. La Trobe, of Takapuna. Mr. Hobday's son is in Ccvlon.
