M.P.'S FATHER DIES.
MR. W. J. JORDAN BEREAVED.
GALLANT LIFEBOAT SERVICE. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. News is to hand of the death in England of Captain W. Jordan, father of Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau. The late Captain Jordan, who during the last few years had been in failing health, started his career in the North Sea fishing fleet, afterwards engaging in the Transatlantic P. and O. service. In his younger years he was a member of the Ramsgate and Margate lifeboat crews and he took part in many exploits on the Goodwin Sands. He was a member of the crew of the Friends of all Nations' lifeboat that was wrecked with considerable loss of life on the Nayland Rock, off the coast of Margate, early in j the century.
The late Captain Jordan was in his 84tli year and had been retired for many years. He is survived by Mrs. Jordan, who is also of an advanced age.
