PAEROA MUSIC FESTIVAL.
AMATEUR COMPETITIONS
Successful amateur musical competitions are being held by the Presbyterian Church community of Facroa. There are 37 sections. Results to date are: — Open pianoforte solo: Miss Jean D. L. Shaw 1, Mr. Kalph Shaw 2, Miss O. Murray 3, Miss Ailsa MeKenna 4. Recitation in character: Master Douglas Fraser 1, Miss Dorothy Hare 2. Male quartet: Messrs. McNeil, Jutson, McAlonan, Griffiths 1. Ladies' recitation: Miss M. Buchanan 1, Miss Barbara Barclay 2. Mixed duet: Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Griffiths 1, Mrs. Catton and Mr. McNeil 2. Ladiesduet: Mrs. Brocket and Miss Gibb 1, Misses E. and L. Buchanan 2, Misses A. McKenna and M. Innes 3. Three humorous stories: Rev. R. J. Griffiths 1, Messrs. W. G. McAlonan and B. Buchanan tied for second place. Men's solo: Mr. W. J. Forrest 1, Mr. B. Buchanan and Mr. M. J. Irwin tied for second place, Mr. R. J. Jutson 3, Mr. A. W. Whisker 4, Mr. W. G. McAlonan 5. Twenty minutes' entertainment: Mr. S. Wheeler and company of 14 1, Messrs. R. Towers and W. G. McAlonan 2, Miss B. Barclay 3. Junior choir: Paeroa D.H. School 1. Pianoforte duet: Miss O. Gubb an-1 K. Roberts 1. Miss M. Alley and L. Gubb 2, and Miss B. Scanlon and M. McClinchy tied for second place. Humorous recitation: Master Ray McKonzie 1. Folk dance: St. Joseph's Convent 1, Girl Guide company 2. Vocal solo: Mister Derek Steward 1. Pianoforte solo: Miss Lorna Gubb 1, Miss Myra Powell 2. Vocal solo: Master Murray Saunders 1, Master Derek Steward and Miss June Scanlon, equal, 2. Dance duo: Misses Margaret Josephs and G A. Fisher 1. Recitation: Miss Wanda Talboys 1, Miss J. Charlesworth 2, Miss M. J. Ross, h.c. and Miss D. Hare h.e. Pianoforte solo: Miss Glenise Adams 1, Miss Rita Smith 2. Prepared speech: Mr. E. V.
