The Electric Power Boards' Conference was opened to-day by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, who commented on the growth of the electrical industry.
Capita] invested in the industry, raid Mr. Forbes, totalled £32,821,286, the investments being partly Government and partly those of local bodies. Workin": expenses totalled £2,047,041. the total annual cost was £4.123,989. the retail revenue was £4,577,999 and the profit for the* vear £454.010.
Mr. Forbes said he did not think that anybody could complain that the profit was excessive He was sure that if the industry had been in ll,e hands Ct a private undertaking a .larger profit would have been expected.
The output from Government Nations had increased <i per <vnt during the year. He regretted that there had been a certain amount of dissension between town and country, but he felt confident that would be overcome.
