BLAME THE FEMALE.
WHEN MOSQUITOES BITE,
CLOVER MAY STOP ATTACKS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day. i The growth of clover as a means tjf eliminating attacks on man by moSquitoes was remarked upon by Mr. W. J. Phillips in a lecture before the 'Philosophical Society. He said it had been established that only the female mosquito bit mankind, and it had been suggested that they did eo in order to obtain protein for their eggs. It had been further noted that they did not attack man in areas where there was an abundance of clover from which they could obtain protein. "It would be wonderful if we could stop mosquito attacks'by growing fields of clovor," said Mr. Phillips. "I am a little doubtful if we could, but it certainly would be worth following up."
