LOSS OF N.Z. BUSINESS.
NEED TO WATCH POSITION.
The speaker at. the luncheon of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-day was Mr. G. W. Clinkard, who was recently appointed by the Government as Trade Commissioner for New Zealand .in Europe.. ~ .... . •~, .
.]&:, Clinkard spoke of the activities oi the Department which deals with industries and commerce and tourists and publicity, and he expressed the opinion that the work done was not fully appreciated by the commercial community.
Touching on overseas trade, Mr. •Clinkard said that New Zealand's exports to Europe during the last two years. had fallen considerably and the business lost had built up the trade of other countries. It was essential that I New Zealand should do everything possible to. hold and increase her trade, ftnd every move had to be carefully watched.
