COOK ISLAND FRUIT. TOMATOES AND ORANGES. GREEN, PEAS ARRIVE. There was a fair demand at to-day's sales for apples, pears and hothouse tomatoes, but Island tomatoes were cheaper than last week as the steamer Sheaf Holme, which is due from Los Angeles to-night, is bringing a shipment of fruit, including tomatoes and oranges, which she loaded at the Cook Islands en route. The market is glutted with lemons, but there is a fair demand for orange*., while grapefruit are in slightly better demand than they were last week. The supply of tree tomatoes at to-day's sale Grapes: Californian, black, 27/6; white, slightly cheaper. Quotations: — Apples: Dougherty, 6/ to 7/0; Winesap, 8/ to 9/0; Delicious, 0/8 to 10/; Stunners, 6/ to !),'; Granny Smith, 7/ to 9/0. Pears: Coles and Xelis, three-quarter bushels, 7/6 to 8 0; bushels, 9/ to 10/; P. Barry, threequarters, 6/6: bushels, 8/6. Plums: 17/. Oranges: South Australian, 17/0 to 24/; Island, 10, 6 to 22/. Lemons: Cured, 4/ to C/: others, 2/ to 3/. Mandarins: 2.)/. Grapefruit: Xew Zealand, large, 5/ to 6/; small, 4 ; Californian, 32/6. Tomatoes: [eland, 5/ to 8/j hothouse, 7d to 1/3% per lb. Bananas: 17/ to 21/. Tree tomatoes: 4/ to 8/. Pinee: Queensland, 15/ to 16/6. Grapes: Californian, black, 27,00 white, 30/. Coconuts: 14/. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was medium and the demand was keen for table birds. The prices paid were slightly lower in some lines. Selling rates were as follow: Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 4/ to 6/6 each; not prime, 2/C up; light breeds, prime. 3/ to i'; not prime, 1/6 up; fat roosters, heavy breeds, prime, 2/ to 3/; light breeds. 1/6 to 2/; fat hens, heavy breeds, 3/ to 4/3; light breeds, 2/6 to 3/3; pullets, heavy breeds, best, 2/6 (o 4/6; smaller, 1/6 up; light breeds, best, 3/ to 4/; smaller, 1/6 up; drakes, young, prime, 2/6 to 3/6; smaller. 1/6 up; ducks, young. 2/0 to 3/6: old, 1/6 to 2/6; drakes, old. 1/0 to 2/6; turkeys hens, 5/6 to 0 6; gobblers, 7/0 to 12/6; cockerel chicks, heavy breeds, 3d to 1/; light breeds, Id to 10d; day-old chicks. Black Orpington, 6d to 9d; Leghorn, 6d to 9d; guinea fowls, 3/ to 3/6. Vegetables. There was a good demand to-day for cabbage and cauliflower, which were fairly scarce. There was a shortage of good pumpkin, winch fetched higher prices than last week, but there were plenty of poorer quality lines available. Good rhubarb was also scarce. The supply of local onions is about finished, most sold being imported from overseas. Increased supplies of asparagus arc arriving and are meeting with a good demand.
