GRAFTON BRIDGE.
CONTROL OF PEDESTRIANS. "RIGHT-HAND RULE" ENFORCED. No time has been lost by the Auckland City Council in carrying out its decision that the by-law relating to pedestrian traffic on Graf ton Bridge shall be enforced. On tjie footpaths at each end of the bridge notices have been printed indicating the direction in which pedestrians should walk, and at the week-end a traflic officer was on duty to see that the by-law was observed. The by-law stipulates that any person crossing the bridge on foot shall do so only on the .southern footpath when proceeding from Symonds Street in the direction of Grafton Road, and only on the northern footpath, when proceeding from Grafton Road in the direction of Symohds Street. Actually this means the application of the right-hand rule for pedestrians, so that they will face oncoming vehicular traffic.
