FAST SPEED AT UTAH.
Sir Malcolm Campbell's Trial
Run of 238 m.p.h. TIME FOR MEASURED MILE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, September 2. The famous British racing motorist, Sir Malcolm Campbell, drove his car Bluebird at a speed of 238 miles per hour over a measured mile during a trial run on the Bonneville snlt flats in Utah, United States, where he is intending shortly to make an attempt to reach a speed of 300 miles an hour. A later message states that Sir Malcolm in a subsequent trial run registered 240 m.p.h., which satisfied him in every detail. Ho will make his record attempt on Tuesday. He found that the altitude of more' than 4000 feet gave quicker acceleration and the wind resistance was less than on sea level. The rarifled atmosphere affected the air brakes, making them of little value to slow up after the finish of the measured mile.
