AUCKLAND TRAVEL CLUB.
There was an exceptionally large gathering of members and overseas guests at the morning reception tendered to Mrs. J. A. Lyons, wife of the Australian Prime Minister, at Milne and Choyce reception hall by the Auckland Tra.vel Club on Friday. Mrs. J. A. Lyons, accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs. Ernest Davis, was given an enthusiastic welcome by Mrs. Victor Macky, honorary director, on behalf of the club. Other guests at the official table were Mrs. Masters, wife of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mrs. J. Payne, wife of the assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, and Miss Nellie Bramley, the well known Australian actress. Mr. J. W. Payne, assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, and the Hon. E. H. Farrar, of Australia, were also present. Mrs. E. Greenfield gave two violin solos, accompanied by Miss I. McKinnon at the piano; Mrs. J. Farrell sang an operatic selection and a charming romantic ballad. Shoulder sprays of orchids and cyclamen were presented to Mrs. J. A. Lyons, Mrs. E. Davis, Mrs. Masters, Mrs. Payne and Miss Bramley.
