MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
CAR STRIKES SAFETY ZONE. Severe head injuries and concussion were suffered by Mr. William Leslie Mason, aged 65, of 55 ; Wallace Street, Ponsonby, as the result of being struck by a motor car about seven o'clock in Papatoetoe. He had just stepped from a motor bus on the Great South Road and was crossing the street when he was struck. He received attention from Dr. J. J. Valentine, of Papatoetoe, after which he was brought into the hospital by the St. John Ambulance. His condition today was reported to have improved. The car was driven by Mr. D. A. Finlayson, of Thomas Avenue, Mount Albert.
TWO WOMEN INJURED. Two women were slightly injured when the motor car in which they were passengers struck a safety zone in Queen Street in the early hours of Sunday morning. Tliey were Mrs. Celia Yockney, of Devonport, whose right ankle was cut, and Miss Clare Mirams, who suffered slight concussion. The motor car was driven by Dr. Selwyn de Clive Lowe, of Devonport, and in it as passengers were Mrs. de Clive Lowe, Mr. and Mrs. Yockney and Miss Mirams. The machine was turning round in Queen Street when it skidded and struck the zone. The two injured women were taken to the hospital in a St. John ambulance. No one else was hurt.
