LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD.

PREMIERSHIP FINAL SATURDAY. EARLY MATCH CHANGE-OVERS. The final of the Auckland Rugby League championship between Richmond Rovers and Mount Albert for the Fox Memorial .Shield a t t Carlaw Park on Saturday will have as its prelude the playing of a preliminary Roope Rooster round for the teams that otherwise would be idle. This was decided by the Control Board last evening, Mr. U. Grey Campbell presiding. To complete the three senior matches Otahuhu will take part.

Novelty will be added to the curtainraiser events ill that the team leading on No. 2 ground at half-time will complete the match against the leaders on No. 1 ground, and the losers on No. 1 ground will play the remainder of their match against the losers on No. 2 ground.

Another suggestion adopted was to combine the senior reserve and senior B grades in the knock-out competition for tlifc Stallard Cup to commence on August 24, when the special senior B round to start on Saturday would have reached the stage of the final, which will be played ao a later date.

A Mount Albert Club deputation, headed by Mr. J. Johnson, asked to have the right to retain certain of its players, likely to be chosen for the A and B trial games on August 17, for the purpose of the club team's proposed visit to Hawkea Bay on that date. The chairman said that the board could not grant the request as Mount Albert players were already chosen for the trial match, which was important in view of the Australian visit. Mr. Johnson said that it woe likely the trip to play Taradale would now have to be. called oil'.

Acknowledging intimation of the board's dismissal of its protest iu the City v. l'ousonby reserve grade match on June 20, the City Club appealed for reconsideration of the matter on the ground that it had extra evidence to show that the referee allowed a try and altered his decision. Mr. W. Mincham, for the Referees' Association, said the referee emphatically denied the allegation. Although it was shown that the referee, according to rules, was the sole judge of fact, the board decided to hear the evidence.

The same club wrote in connection with the starting and finishing times of matches played away from Carlaw Park, asking whether referees had been advised. Arising from this it was decided to state that referees had been advised. The referee in a match last Saturday was present and made a statement also involving City Rovers.

The New Zealand Hockey Association wrote acknowledging an offer of co-opera-tion, and the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association returned thanks for a donation of £o 5/ to the annual tourney funds.

The primary school management committee was granted permission to invite a Northland schoolboy team to play at Carlaw Park at an early date.

Transfer: George Hatcher, Richmond senior reserves to Green Lane senior B. Registration: Leo Cooney (ex-North Auckland Rugby Union rep. and All Black trialist) to City Rovers.
