DEMOCRAT PARTY.
The new rooms of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Democrat party in British Chambers were opened at a ladies' social yesterday afternoon. The chair was taken by Madame Milburn, who welcomed the visitors. Mrs. S. Milne, the party's candidate for Auckland West, received an ovation and spoke on "Women's Needs." Messrs. A. J. Stallworthy, M.P., J. Hislop, J. B. Donald, H. C. Baulf, and H. Thornley also spoke. Mrs. Heeth-Priest was hostess at afternoon tea, assisted by Mrs. G. Stormont, Misses G. Baulf, G. Kniveton and M. Hooten.
