MERCANTILE AUXILIARY

The Mercantile Auxiliary Club held its monthly luncheon yesterday, the tables being daintily arranged with tall vases of Iceland popies. During the luncheon mention was made of the recent sad bereavement suffered by Mise Edna Thomas, and members stood for a while in silence as a mark of sympathy. A letter was read from the Japanese Consul in Sydney expressing the deep appreciation of the personnel of the recent visiting Japanese squadron for the hospitality extended to them by the club. Those present at luncheon were: Mre. Leonard Burton, Misses Joyce Dickey, Esme Ifwersen, Evelyn McNeil, Ailsa Vahry, Mona Boyd, Joyce Smythe, Ivie Jennings, Alison Canavan, Hilda Dickey, Olive Spring, Betty Molesworth, Hilary Booth and Laura Edgar.
