LANDING PLACE?
AUTOGIRO SERVICE.
WELLINGTON STATION ROOF.
MATTER TO THINK OVER. (By Telegraph.- —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Tile suggestion that the roof of the new Wellington railway station might be constructed to serve as a landing place for aircraft was put to the Chamber of Commerce last night by a member, who said he was sorry to see that gables were included in the plans. If the roof had been made flat it would probably have been large enough for a landing place for autogiros with passexgers. That type of aeroplane would be in use in 10 years. The railway station roof could be extended by joining it with the Government Printing Office or roofing over the platforms. Another member said the building would have to be specially designed to serve as a landing place for 'planes. The present building would not be stroll" enough. The secretary, Mr. H. S. Fairchild, said air experts would probably have something to say about up draughts anddown draughts. The president, Mr. M. G. McCaul, said it was a matter membtre might think over. He then called for the next business.
