The Regium Donuro, or Royal Gift, was an allowance from the sovereign for the maintenance of the Presbyterian ministers in Ireland. It was first given by Charles IT. in 1672, was revived by William 111. in 1600, and was commuted by the Irish Presbyterian Church Act, passed June, 1871. An allowance was formerly made to certain Protestant dissenting ministers in Ireland, but it was given up by them in 1857.
