BEACH FAVEN CLUB.

The Beach Haven Club was represented in the Centre's two events by nine riders, with varvinsr degrees of success. In tne 13-mile junior race K. Elia, off 3.30, rode well to finish in fourth place, clocking 38.11, only 1.17 outside fastest time rhis la<l shows Rre.it promise, and should DC heard of more in future open races. Eight started in the senior 43 miles Waimauku out-and-hom« event, the first club member being Leon Elia, off 14.0. \\ her. with the leading bunch after 2.j miles lie punctured and was put out of the race. Dave H. I'attcn, off 10.30, rode a good race, but tired over the last few miles. He finished in sixth place, his time being -U 15m Is. Stan. G. Hilder, 9.0, was success_ ful in dropping his bunch with the aid of Norm Helliwell, of Lynndale, and the two lapped out together from Waikumete to about 15 miles out, when the 10.30 men were picked up. The 14.0 bunch was caught at Waimauku, Stau. being forced off the road and thrown heavily on his hip. This rider was placed sixth in the Kumeu race last month, and seems to like long races. Bert Evans, 7.30, rode a good race, filling nineteenth place in 2h 19m 14s. The back mnrkers of the club, A. Ella, J. A. Morris and Colin French (last year's winner) were on their own off C.30. Jim Murris punctured shortly after starting, leaviiiß Colin and Andy to carry on. Colin was successful in overhauling the leaders after 40 miles and sprinted into fourth place, clocking 2h Sm 345. On the whole the day whs successful for the club. Saturday's club event will bo for the Ladies' Cup. The course will Be halfway round the circuit and back for a mile and a half, after which a loop detour down Tramway Road will be taken to the beginning of the lap. The culvert on the back of the circuit cannot be replaced this senson, this course being mapped out for the remaining lap races.
