RECEPTION ON WARSHIP.
FRENCH VISITORS ENTERTAIN. Draped with gaily coloured flags and bunting and closed in with large awnings, the deck of the French warship, Aniiral Charner, presented a bright scene yesterday afternoon when Commander P. A. C. H. Adelue and his officers held a reception for the many friends they have mida during the:r stay in Auckland. Dancing was enjoyed by a large number of the guests en the upper dock and excellent music was provided. On the tables below where champagne, cocktails, cinzano and other drinks were later served, bowls of golden narcissi and Iceland poppies made a bright display. A novel note in the decorative scheme wae three largo cakes placed in a central position and iced with blue, red and white, the colours of the French flag. On arrival the guests were received by the French Consul, M. Edouard Joubert and Commander Adelus.
