BODY UNDER HAY.
FARMER SMOTHERED.
WIND BLOWS DOWN STACK. DISCOVERY BY NEIGHBOUR. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, tin day. Believed to have been smothered, Mr. George McGoll, aged 74, farmer, of Kotokauri, near Frankton, was found dead beneath a haystack on his farm at 5 a.m. to-day. The discovery was made by a neighbour.
Mr. McColl went out to look »>ver the farm at dusk last evening, and when he failed to return his sister, with whom he resided, became anxious. A search was instituted, but there was no result until this morning, when a neighbour noticed deceased's legs protruding from a portion of the haystack, which had collapsed, apparently as the result of high winds.
An inquest was opened by the coroner, Mr. F. W. Platts, CM., this morning.
Mr. McColl was a very reserved man and had resided on the farm for about three years.
