LAVISH BRITISH FILM.
OF TURKEY'S LAST SULTAN. One of the most spectacular English productions yet made is to be shown publicly at the Regent Theatre on Friday. This is "Abdul the Damned," the story of Abdul Hamid 11., Sultan of Turkey, last of the Eastern tyrants, who was eventually deposed for extreme cruelty to his subjects. Fritz Kortner plays the role of Abdul Hamid, a part which gives this great actor the opportunity to display his forceful acting, an opportunity of which he takee full advantage. Nils Aether also gives what is claimed to be his mest brilliant performance in the vole of Kndor Paeha, the chief of police of Constantinople—conspirator, schemer and murderer. Adrienne Ames, one of Hollywood's loveliest and best dresßcd stars, is ThercßC, au Austrian dancer and singer. The Regent is screening "Show Kids," a three-reel novelty film in colour, together with other supports.
