ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY.
MAN TO BE RETURNED TO N.Z. (Received 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. In the Police Court, Herbert Howard, or Herbert Laurence Handley, 40, painter and decorator, was charged by provisional warrant with having at Wellington "committed the offence of false pretence." Detective Spencer, of Wellington, said that Howard escaped from custody on February 18, 1933, whilst being taken by train from Auckland to another town. The Court ordered that Howard be handed over to the custody of Detective Spencer for return to Xew Zealand.
