TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE. KIETOWYN'S USEFUL EFFORT. IMAMINT ON THE IMPROVE. No. 2 grass track was available for fast work at Ellerslie this morning, and there w r as much more doing than usual. The going was heavy and consequently no fast times were recorded. Courthaven strode over six furlongs, averaging about Ids to the furlong. Air Lassie ran home from the three-furlong post in 455. She did her work very easily. Kelly and Fleetwind, after running their first three furlongs in 43 4-ss, completed six furlongs in 1.26 4-5. They were on the bit throughout, both hitting out with plenty of freedom. Gay Defence was going comfortably to record 513 2-5s for half a mile. This hack is in first-rate condition to commence the new season. Te Broney and the sister to Gay Brouey got to the eud of five furlongs in 1.11, the last half-mile taking 56 l-ss. Te Broney is a -stylish mover and could have done much better. Sir Komeo ran his first three furlongs in 40 2-os, and continued on to the six-furlong post, which he reached in 1.24 1-5. Express completed three furlongs in 42 l-ss, and Ruling King, carrying a welter weight, was timed to run his last half-mile in 58 2-ss. Gold Rod and Court Anna were timed to run six furlongs in 1.25 3-5, finishing on terms, though Court Arma pleased most. Valspear and Teddy Boy were not doing their best to traverse five furlongs in 1.9 2-6. Both these horses are making good headway. Imamint trotted round to the threefurlong post and ran home in 40 2-ss. It was a useful effort and indicated that she is coming back to form. Aymon was doing better than Vera Acre at the end of half a mile that took 53 4-ss. Over a furlong less Red Flame registered 41s, and was running on nicely at the finish. Kiltowyn, after completing his first three furlongs in 39 3-ss, was easing up at the end of six furlongs, run in 1.22. This horse is in great heart. Baroscope had Charsong as a companion over a round, and after commencing slowly they ran the last six furlongs in 1.23 and the final three in 43 l-ss. Heather Land, Primak and Vanners were in that order after sprinting three .furlongs in 425, the first named showing to most advantage. Jewelled Girdle was worked over six furlongs, which he covered in 1.25 1-5, the first three taking 31s. Catoma and Valmint ran a similar distance in the same time.

Jumpers. Supreme Ruler (W. Pascoe) and Chief Emerald (C. Simpson) were schooled over the pony hurdles, shaping satisfactorily. Hawthorn (I. Tucker) was sent over three pony hurdles, displaying plenty of dash for a beginner. Parkhurst (D. Craddock) and Catorna (F. Fergus) were given a further trial over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Parkhurst gave a good display, but Catoma balked at the second fence of the double. He was tried over the stonewall later and, refusing to jump, was not further persevered with.
