LAST DAY.

WINTER EXHIBITION.

STILL LARGE ATTENDANCES.

GOOD BUSINESS DONE.

Stallholders and side-show proprietors at the Auckland Winter Exhibition were busier last evening than at any time since the exhibition opened. During the day the majority of the visitors were seltool children in parties under the charge of their teachers, over :?(l(l arriving in the morning by a special train from Kaukapakapa, which left again in the afternoon. Adults were in the majority, however, during the evening, crowds of people visiting tlie exhibition after doing their week-end shopping in town.

W hen the total attendance is ascertained, after the exhibition closes tonight, the figures are expected to be at least 25 per cent higher than they were for last year's exhibition. Much more business was done by stallholders this year than was done last year. While they still demanded good value for their money, tlie public showed more readiness to spend than they did last year, and a happier tone was apparent amongst all classes of visitors. Some big purchases were made by visitors to the exhibition, several expensive motor-cars and milking machines and radio sets being sold or ordered at the stands where they were exhibited, while most of the school children had a few pennies to spend on toys and sweets or on me various games. 4. hi"h opinion of the exhibition was expressed by Mr. A. W. Xesbitt, secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers Association, who visited the exhibition yesterday, and left for Wellington again last evening. His visit was to obtain information on behalf of his association, which, as a result of a disagreement with the Wellington Show Association, is considering the possibility of conducting a separate show. Concerts by St. Andrew's Pipe Band, the -Highland and National Dancing Society and Miss Beresford s pupils last evening attracted large attendances, and items by the Home Economic Society were also followed with interest. This evening's programme includes a concert by the Takapuna Citizens' Band.
