COUNTRY VISITORS.
EXCURSION TO CITY.
An excursion train from Hikurangi and way stations which arrived in Auckland this morning brought 350 people, the big attractions in the city being the Winter Exhibition and tho hockey Test match, which was played this afternoon. Owinsj to the demand for accommodation at intermediate stations, two carriages had to be added.
During this week more than 1000 country school children were brought to Auckland bv special trains. Owing to the popularity of the excursions the Railway Department has decided to run another excursion train to Auckland from Hikurangi and way stations on August 10, tho occasion of the Ranfurly Shield match between Auckland aiid Canterbury.
An excursion train is to be run to New Plymouth for the Rugby match between Auckland and Taranaki at New Plymouth next Saturday. It will leave on Friday evening and return from New Plymouth on Sunday evening.
