ONION SUPPLIES LIMITED
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Monday. Onions are still ' very scarce owing to growers keeping" their supplies hack for the end of the season. A fair demand exists, and the price remains firm at from £14 10/ to £15 per ton. Good supplies of Southern potatoes are available at from £9 to £0 10/ per ton, f.b.r. Pukekohe, and from £8 5/ to £8 15/ per ton i'.o.r. Auckland, but at present the market is slack. Cabbages are meeting with a very strong demand from all parts of the North Island, while supplies are very plentiful. Keen competition is being shown among the local merchants, and since last week'the price has dropped a further 1/ per sack for all classes, Savoys now bringing 6/3 per largo saek and special all heart 6/. Cauliflowers are quoted at 8/3 per large sack, and 6/3 for three-quarter si/.o; carrots, 2/3 per sugar bag; parsnips, 3/9; swede turnips, 2/9; rhubarb, 2/9 per dozen bundles; pumpkins, 4/9 per cwt tor the best quality Triamble. Cauliflower plants are selling at 10/ per 1000; cabbage plants, 7/ per 1000 for all varieties; onion plants, 3/9 per 1000 for dark or straw.
