WEEK .OPENS QUIETLY.

COMMERCIALS IN DEMAND,

A fresh week opened quietly-on the local Stock Exchange, and oniy four sales were finalised at the first call. In the banking section, Commercials led tho way with quotations from 10/6 to 17/. New Zealand also were firm, with buyers at £2 11/, and sellers asking 6d more. Reserve Banks were a shade better, with buyers at £b' 9/ and no sellers. In the insurance class South British were on offer at £4 19/, and a buyer came in at £i 16/. New Zealauds -were/Steady between £3 7/6 and £3 9/. New Zealand Breweries started the week strongly, with buyers at £2 13/6 and no sellers. Government stocks were practical'y unchanged. In the unlisted clnss Procrras -were wanted at £2, and Golden Crowns made another rise of 3d with ;i sale at 7/9. The Noon Call. Business was steady at the noon call, without many variations of rates*. In the miscellaneous section a 2/ advance, to 8/2, for Dalgety's, failed to attract sellers. A large parcel of Morris, Hedstroms was quitted at £1 1/6, -with buyers still remaining in at £1 1/3, and holders 6d higher. Mount Morgan continue to show slight improvement, and a sale at £1 17/4 was reported, an increase of 2d. Latest buyers offered £1 17/.
