MODEL YACHTING.
PONSONBY CLUB. The Ponsonby Model Yacht Club held their second series of winter races yesterday afternoon in St. Mary's Bay. There was a strong breeze from the south, which gave owners hard work to catch their boats. The wind was so fresh that all. of the 4-footers, although reefed down, took charge, owners not being able to catcli them with their dinghies. Mr. W. A. Willett's Waitere 11., u four-footer, got away and ran ashore near the vehicular ferry landing. Mr. D. Coulton's Robbie C. went off in the opposite direction and landed on the Shelly Beach reef. Both "boats were eventually recovered in a damaged condition. Several others got out of hand, but received no damage. The 3-footers were kept under control. The first race was sailed over the club's usual triangular course and resulted: —■ Tatnariki (Gordon Broun), 2h 41m 20s, 1; Rhythm (Alf. Bell), 2h 41m 355. 2. They were the only boats to finisli, the others meeting with mishaps. Second Handicap.—This race was sailed over a shorter course, the marks being "nearer inshore. Tamariki (G.
