BIRKENHEAD FIELD DAY.
ELECTRIC INCUBATOR. A field day was held on Saturdayafternoon at the farm of the president, Mr. A. E. Knowles, in Rosebery Avenue, by the Birkenhead Poultry Society. The gathering of 100 pfultryraen included representatives from Albany, Glenfield, Takapuna, Titirangi, Takanini, Manurewa, Mangere and Auckland suburban districts. General comment was made on the excellent health of the birds. The main interest was centred in the mammoth electric incubator, with a capacity ,pf over 10,000 eggs. The whole plant is electrically controlled, including the brooding equipment, and, t>elng quite : automatic, requires very little attention. There were 3000 eggs in the incubator, and those assembled were privileged to watch the machine in actual operation. The speakers included the president, Mr. A. E. Knowles, the deputy-Mayor, Mr. Albert Hadfteld, Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., and Mr. L. Ayling, of Manurewa. Afternoon tea was served by a ladies' committee.
