WHIRLWIND NEAR KAIKOHE

FAMILY SEEKS SHELTER.

(By Telegrnph.—Own Coriespondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A whirlwind near jtaikohe demolished a chimney on Mr. J. Orr's residence and lifted the roof off a concrete garage, carrying the debris for some distance. The whirlwind struck a hut owned by Solomon Kapa, taking off the roof and frightening Mrs. Kapa and her" live children, who sought shelter under the floor of the building. At Pakaraka on Saturday a whirlwind took the tope off a number of trees.
