AT HAWERA.
STANCHION'S GOOD SCHOOL. Weather conditions at Hawera have improved and the tracks are returning ; to more normal conditions (says the "Star"). The Trentham-engaged horses have been doing eolid pace work on the and, and all are well forward in condition. The Great Northern winner Stanchion is in great heart, and if anything is an improved horse since his Northern victories. On Wednesday morning he gave a splendid exhibition in a round of the schooling hurdles in company with Soloist, the latter also showing to advantage. W. Pascoe has been engaged for Stanchion at Trentham. Ruaform is also in. splendid condition, and the fear that his injured hock would come against him when jumped has been dispelled. Schooled on Tuesday, he jumped well, and on Wednesday morning he was given solid work over three rounds of the sand. P. Burgess is to pilot him. Arouse has manifested improvement since racing at Foxton, but his trip to Trentham has not deffhitely .been decided upon; An. interesting performer from Hawera will be Supreme Court in the hack events. He continues to work most attractively, and is a clean mover who should act as well as the rest in heavy going. Haunui, who was greatly fancied for his race at Levin, broke a blood vessel during the running, and he has been taken out of training. The Hawera team for Trentham will be leaving by train to-morrow. Murray Aynsley from having her on the tracks at Riccarton until a few days ago. She will now be a regular visitor, though she will not start on serious tasks for a few weeks. Her stablemates, Oeris and Sovereign Lady, are being worked with a view to.racing in August, but the unfavourable conditions have prevented them from doing as much work as was expected during the last few weeks, so they will require no more interruptions if they are to be in form for the Grand National meeting-
