HOTEL DESTROYED.

DOG AWAKENS OCCUPANT. HAWKE'S BAY OUTBREAK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NAPIER, Monday. The whining of a clog at a bedroom door at 1.45 a.m. to-day awakened an occupant of the Bay View Hot';!, to discover that the building was on fire. Bay View is eight miles north of Napier. A bucket brigade was formed, but within half an hour the building was destroyed, and few of the contents had been saved. The licensee, Mr. F. Tucker, was absent in Hastings at the time. Those in the hotel were Mrs. Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Reynold*, and the staff. The hotel was owned by Mr. H. Neagle. of Greenmeadows, and was burned down once before six years ago, after which a new structure was erected on.the opposite side of the road. The building was covered by the New Zealand Insurance Company for £2500, and the furniture and stock for £SOO with the Eagle, Star and British Office.
