COLD WINTER SNAP.

Snow Storms in Many Parts Of Australia. HURRICANE IN SOUTH. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The eastern States of Australia are experiencing extremely cold weather. Wide areas are covered in snow, and in many parts of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria temperatures have dropped to the lowest levels for years. Caught in a snowstorm near Taralga an aeroplane crashed into a tree and was wrecked. The pilot escaped with a severe shaking. Hurricane conditions prevailed off the South Australian coast.

Intense cold in Southern Queensland has caused heavy losses among droughtweakened stock.
