MANT REWA'S WATER SUPPLY

What practically amounted to an apology from the Manurewa Town Board for some of its members' actions in regard to the proposed water supply from Papakura was received last evenino by the Papakura Town Board. A copy of a resolution passed by the Manurewa Town Board on June 1C was received. It read as follow. That the actions of a minority of the Manurewa Town Board who, after accepting the Papakura Town Board's invitation to view their water scheme, and having expressed their satisfaction with the scheme, a few weeks later joined issue with the opponents of the' water scheme, and whilst alterations were being effected to the headworks, etc., surreptitiously made a further inspection and attacked both the quality ' and quantity, using both the Press and public to serve their purpose to oppose the Manurewa water supply scheme, were regretted."

The letter went on to say that Drs. Hughes and Magill and the engineer, Mr. K. Worley, all assured the Manurewa Town Board that both the quality and quantity of the Papakura water were satisfactory.

The letter concluded by saying that the tactics displayed by this opposition gave a serious set-back to the amalgamation proposal, and the Manurewa Town Board sincerely regretted the necessity for this motion.
