— • II ■■■I.— — MUNICIPAL BAND. An enthusiastic audience greeted the Auckland Municipal Band at its recital in the ■ Town Hall last night. The programme, comprising many fine selections and vocal and instrumental solos, was much appreciated. Miss Sara Stacpoole (soprano) was recalled for each of her numbers. Instrumental solos by Messrs. McLennan and Jackson were enthusiastically encored. Mr. Owen Jensen was accompanist. A programme was also given in the Zoplogical Park yesterday afternoon. SOCIETY OF TVIAGICIANS. To mark the fifteenth year of the New Zealand Society of Magicians another silver ring was added to the society's wand at the annual meeting presided over by Mr. H. Withers. There was a good attendance, and as usual after the business' of the meeting had been dealt with members "put over" the newest and latest tricks. The president reported that the past year had been a successful one, 21 new membeiis having been enrolled, and the society was now affiliated with many similar societies overseas. Two ladies' nights had been hekl, and the society had also put on a show at Ellerslie during the twelve months. In accordance with the rules of the society the president, Mr. H. Withers, retired, and in recognition of the excellent services he had rendered he was presented with an enlarged group photograph of the members. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: —President, Mr. W. Kelly; vice-president, Mr. J. Shaw; secretarytreasurer, Mr. C. Morris; programme organiser, Mr. J. Morton.
