PENGUINS' NEW HOME.
» SOMES ISLAND SANCTUARY. (By Tolegrnpli.—Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, this day. Since a , year or two after the end of the war some of the penguins which frequented Cape Terawhiti have been poing to Somes Island, in Wellington Harbour. This year on the island are several hundreds of these birds, which have made their honice beneath the quarantine buildings.
The penguins are not disturbed, a« the' authorities»are satisfied they do no harm. Every day they file down to the water for food, and then return to their sanctuary. In the late spring and summer the birds make their homes in recesses in the rocks on Somes Island and Leper Island, where they neet and breed.
