PERSONAL.
Mr. F. E. Cullen, of Maungaturoto, has been elected chairman of the North. Auckland dairy conference. Mr. H. W. Beasley, district rail wayengineer at Auckland, left for Wellington by the express yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., leaves on Monday to preside at sittings of the Assessment Court Hamilton and Eotorua. Mr. F. Beaumont Smith, managing director of J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd., and Mrs. Beaumont Smith leave for Sydney by the Mariposa to-night. Mr. E. A. Craig, formerly Consul for Chile at Auckland, was congratulated by the dean of the Consular Corps, Mr. W. F. Boyle, at the annual dinner last evening upon his receiving the Chilian Order of Merit. Mr. B. Martin, deputy-Mayor, left for Wellington last night to attend a meeting of"the executive of the Municipal Association. One of the questions to be diecussed is the payment of overseas interest. He will return to-morrow.
Mr. A. M. Ferguson, Consul for Belgium at Auckland, has been awarded it civic decoration of the first clase by the King of the Belgians. He was already a Chevalier of the Order of the Crown of Belgium when, in 1929, he received the Order of Leopold. This ia, therefore, the third decoration he 'has received from Belgium during the pust 25 years.
