TO-MORROW'S CONTESTS. MARISTS MEET 'VARSITY. VISCOUNT GALWAY TO ATTEND. Interest in Saturday's games at Eden Park, under the control of the Auckland Rugby Football Union, will be increased by the attendance of the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway. The principal game, is the meeting of Mariet Old Boys and University in the seventh series of games in the Auckland Rugby Union's senior championship. The curtainraiser will bo supplied by tho Mount Albert and Auckland Grammar Schools. There is only one other senior match at headquarters—College Rifles v. Ponsonby. The two "outside" engagements arc: Grafton v. Grammar Schools' Old Boys, at the Show Grounds, and Otahuhu V. Technical, at Sturgess Park. VENtJE OF &UCIvLAND GAME. In view of the withdrawal of tlie Waihi Rugby Sub-Union from the Tannics Valley i:ugl>y Union's Poland Cup competition, notices of motion have been given ny the Paeroa Sub-Union that the Thames Valley Union rescind its motion allocating the Auckland-Thames Valley lixture on August 10 to Waihi and that the mattcli be played nt Pneron. The matter will be considered on June 22. The Hauraki Plains! Sub-Unioii is also seeking to have the contest decided in its territory. 'Hbe l'aeroa Rugby Union decided at this week's meeting to invite Auckland A grade ; teams to visit Paeroa and to offer i'lO towards the expenses. 11. C. Garlick, the Karangahake player whose suspension for late tackling almost caused a split between the Paeroa Union and the Paeroa Referees' Association, was suspended by another referee on Saturday last for striking an opponent. The matter was considered by the union in committee, as the previous case had been given so much ■ publicity, and a decision was reached to continue the suspension for one club competition Saturday. Championship points in the- Ilauraki Pluins sub-union's competition :— Patetonga 10, Ngatea G, Waitakaruru C, Turua i), and Kaiaua 0. Ngatea and Kaiaua have played one game less than the other teams. The Thames sub-union has decided to issue a challenge for the Peace Cup, at present held by Matamata, the standard of play having shown great improvement of late. June 22 has been set down for the Thames-Paeroa Johnston Cud mutch at Thames, and August 24 for the ThamesSouth Auckland match at Pukekohe. Thames has offered Te Aroha June 22 for a match at Te Aroha.
