METHODIST WOMEN
Under the auspices of the Auckland Methodist Women's Missionary Auxiliary, a convention was held in Pitt Street Church on Thursday, when there was a large and representative gathering of members from the various branches of the organisation. The morning session was devoted' to a Communion Berviee, which was conducted by the Rev. E. D. Patchett, with whom wero associated the Revs. G. Marshall, E. Harknese, E. T. Olds and A. H. Serivin, the foreign mission secretary. The pre-Communion address was delivered by the Rev. E. T, Olds. Following this service, an adjournment was made to the schoolroom, where luncheon was served, and here also the afternoon session was held. After the devotional preliminaries, Mrs. A. White, the president,, referred to the recent passing of the Rev. W. Mawson, -who for many years had been the foreign mission secretary of the Presbyterian Church of Xew Zealand. As a tribute of sympathy with Mrs. Maweon and tho family, the members stood for a few moments in silence. Dr. and Mrs. Sayers, who with their two children, were present at the meeting, were accorded a warm welcome by the president, who made eulogistic reference to the wonderful work accomplished by the doctor during his years of missionary service in the Solomons. The speaker for the occasion was the Rev. W. Blight, 8.A., 8.D., who gave an address on "Present Day Missionary Activities of the Christian Church."
