TIVOLI AND RIALTO,

This evening will see the final screening of "Baboona," Martin Johnson's latest African picture, and Nancy Carroll's "I'll Love You Always," at the Tivoli Theatre, and of "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" at the Eialto Theatre, INewmarket. To-morrow'g change of programme will bring che same dual bill to both houses, consisting of two modern dramas. These are "The People's Enemy" and "It Happened in New York." The former is based on a powerful dramatic theme and "boasts a splendid cast of players, headed by Melvyn Douglas (of "The Old Dark House"), Preston Foster, Lila Lee and Shirley Grey, "It Happened in New York" was filmed by the wellknown director Edmund Grainger, from a story by Ward Morehouse, New York newspaperman and screen-play writer. Although the action of the film takes place in America's greatest metropolis, the production was photographed in Hollywood. The story of '"It Happened in New York" 'deals with a temperamental aetvess who went on a vacation, attempted tu enter New York incognito and became involved with a taxi cab man whom she commissioned to escort her about the town. Incidentally, the taxi cab man was engaged to Heather Angel. Beautiful Gertrude Michael plays" the actress, Lyle Talbot the taxi cab driver and Hugh O'Conncll plays the distracted manager of the actress. The supporting cast includes a number of well-known players. COMMUNITY SINGING. Led by Mr. Vernon T. Drew and assisted by Mis. Bariington Snow at the piano, another gathering in the Town Hall tomorrow afternoon will enjoy a "song festival" organised by live Auckland Community Singing Association in aid of the Mayor's fund for crippled children. A choir is to be formed to assist the singinp at these gatherings each week. An additional sing will be held in the Lewis Eady Hall on Friday, commencing at 7.30 p.m., when Mr. Matt. Guthrie will be songleader.
