CHRISTCHURCH, Monday

A complete agreement was reached at a Conciliation Council sitting to-day when the claims of the Christchurch Journalists' Union for a now award were considered. It was agreed that the 5 per cent partial restoration of the cut, niado voluntarily by the proprietors at the end of March, should be added to the present wage scale, , and that cadots and copy-hojders should get additional increases in wages ranging from 2/6 to 7/0 a week.

The institution of a 48-hour week instead of a 00-hour fortnight, was also agreod upon. The annual holiday provisions were amended to provide three weeks for siab-editors and senior and general reporters, and two weeks for other grades.
