PRICES AT SMITHFIELD. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated 31st May, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised tor the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market, and/or ex London stores: — Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 481b to 561b, 4%d; 571b to 641b, 3%d; 651b to 721b, 3%d; North Island, 481b to 561b, 4%d; 571b to 641b, 3%d; 651b to 721b, 3%d; ewes, 481b and under, 3'/2d; 481b to 641b, 2%c1; 651b to 721b, 2%d. Mutton: Wethers and ewes steady, but trade slow. Beef market quiet owing to reduction in prices of Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand pigs: Porker trade slow, with prices easier; baconor market quiet and unchanged. The Bank's Report. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business this week:— Wethers. —There is little inquiry. Ewes.—The rfemand is rather easier. Lambs.—The advance in prices has checked the demand. It is thought prices will remain steady at present quotations. Wethers, light, 3%d to 4%d per lb; heavy, 3d to 3%d; ewes, 2%d to 3%d; lambs, twos, 6%d to 7%d; eights, 6%d to 7d; fours, 6%d to o%d; seconds, 6%d to 6y 2 d. EXPORT PARITY. In regard to ' the published prices realised for New Zealand lamb delivered to Smithfield market, the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board supplies the foTTowing table, giving the equivalent New Zealand parity, after deducting all costs, including selling commission. The costing is based on to-tlay's estimated skin values, and includes exchange at current rates.
