TERRITORIAL FORCE.
RECRUITING IMPROVES. EMPLOYERS GRANTING LEAVE. Remarking that recruiting for the territorial force was now well maintained, the Minister, of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, who is at present in Auckland, said this morning that the percentage of enrolments in the territorial force was now better. "Some of the branches of the force," added the Minister, "would receive a numerical impetus if all the employers could see their way to allow their men leave to attend parades and camps. I was pleased to learn on my present visit to Auckland that one or two of the employers who seemed to be adamant in their resolve not to give their men leave, had, on reflection, given consent for them to do so. "The men will assuredly benefit by their military training," concluded the Minister. "So will their employers,, because there is nothing like military drill as a means of improving a man s physical fitness and alertness."
