CHILDREN'S COURT.
REVISION OF ACTS, AMENDMENTS POSSIBLE. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. The possibility of amendments to the legislation controlling the Children's Courts in New Zealand being introduced in the near future was mentioned to-day by the Minister of Justice, Mr. Coobe. Mr. Cobbe said that the Acts under which the Children's Court worked lately been receiving his attention. On a previous visit to Auckland he had had a conference with the magistrates interested, and arising out of that meeting action was now being taken to review the question. It was possible that a similar conference would be held of those directly concerned in the administration of the Child Welfare Act. "The Justice Department recently procured from the Home Office the latest literature in relation to the Imperial Children and Young Persons Act, 15)33," said the Minister. "The executive officers of the Department concerned are now ioneideririg whether our legislation can !>e suitably brought into line with English, law.
